The Icelandic Approach Community of Practice is an online learning community comprised of members with interest in and/or at various stages of engagement with the Icelandic Prevention Model (IPM). It creates opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration with local, provincial, national, and international peers on initiatives that support the use of this model in Canada. Membership is diverse, with representation from various sectors and across Canada. This CoP was created by the Southwestern Public Health Unit (Ontario) in 2019. It was first led by representatives of public health units in Ontario, with the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) later taking a secretariat role. As of 2024, leadership for this CoP is provided by the Knowledge Development and Exchange Hub for Youth Substance Use Prevention (KDE Hub-YSUP).
Working Groups of the IA CoP
IA CoP working groups focus on specific priorities and topics related to implementing and adapting the IPM in Canada. Working groups are open to interested members of the CoP and are time-limited in scope. Please contact the KDE Hub if you are interested in joining an IA CoP working group.
