SIFT: Offering youth safer spaces to experience, appraise, sift and choose tools for mental health

SIFT creates safer spaces where youth and adults closest to them explore, experience, and build capacity toward belonging, self-care, wellbeing, and positive social identities. This project equips youth and adults with skills to mitigate the significant impacts of the pandemic on their mental health by creating safer spaces for the exploration and development of healthy and authentic social identities across offline and online spaces. Schools, community centres, and youth organizations can review the menu of 18 program options available on The Students Commission website and get involved with or request a program session. Program components include mental health techniques for everyday life, developing strategies for dealing with social identity pressures and reducing social polarization, as well as empowering youth to leave lasting and meaningful contributions for others in their communities.
