Nurturing the future

This project examines the effect of promising strategies and joint effort between early years professionals, community stakeholders, and the parents of children aged 2 to 12, that aims to promote the healthy development of children through free and adventurous play. The objective of the project is to initiate a collective reflection of professionals in early years and to invite them as contributors and active participants in the establishment of favourable conditions for well-being and to the overall development of children. The proposed intervention targets the three main spheres of influence in the healthy development of children: home, day-care (preschool and extracurricular), and the community. The project takes place in three francophone communities in Ontario: Hawkesbury, Kapuskasing, and Milton. The result is parents, early years professionals, and communities offering an environment that favours the development socio-affective skills of young children; precursors of good health and well-being for life.
