This policy paper focuses on the social-emotional development of infants and young children. The influence of relationship between early life experiences and later outcomes is supported by six key recommendations, which include the design and implementation of a common provincial policy and practice framework, strengthening intersectoral partnerships, and identification of standardized measurement tools for infant and early years mental health.
This resource may be useful for policy makers and those seeking to understand opportunities to strengthen systems supporting the lifelong mental health of young children. Although written for the Ontario context, recommendations are applicable to broader contexts.
